“Connecting the science, policy, and public spheres” is the overarching theme for the Sustainable Oceans 2013 conference. The 2012-2013 Master of Marine Management students aim to Build Bridges by bringing people together – voices from all sectors – to collaboratively develop a strong voice on ways to move forward on ocean management issues.

Upcoming Hilary Moors-Murphy Public Lecture on the Gully MPA, 14 November 2012
As part of the BIO 50th celebrations, Hilary Moors-Murphy will be giving a free public lecture at 7:30 PM in the auditorium of BIO on Wednesday, November 14th.
Abstract: The Gully is large submarine canyon located offshore of Nova Scotia. This area is a Marine Protected Area known for its high diversity of wildlife, including rare and Endangered whale species such as the blue whales and northern bottlenose whales. Hilary has been studying whales of this wondrous place for the past several years. During this talk, she will share not just her research with you, but her tales of the adventure, challenges and triumphs of studying whales of the Gully.
